Recently renamed, this cooperative is now called Gayo Arabika Mahkota Indonesia, or GARMINDO. This cooperative consists of more than 500 farms--each farm averaging 3 hectares or less. Many of these farms are also primarily produced by women who support their families through coffee production. This coffee undergoes a washed process at the farm's personal mills before starting the wet-hulling process, called Giling Basah. During this process the coffee parchment is removed when the coffee still has a high moisture content, which leads to this coffee's unique profile. Garmindo organizes local warehouses and transportation to help farmers overcoming common challenges experienced in Indonesia like heavy unpredictable rain and difficult road conditions.
